Introduction
The National Center for Energy
Management and Building Technologies (NCEMBT) in Alexandria, VA, is an
independent, nonprofit research institution that supports research,
participates in standard setting, advances technical training and
professional education, and serves as a repository of information on
economic, technical, and public policy issues. The National Center
acts as a resource to Federal agencies, state and local governments,
building owners, the HVAC industry and consumers.
The National Center focuses the
collective energies of researchers from multiple disciplines to advance
technology applications, expand educational and professional knowledge,
improve the safety of indoor environments, and create public policy for
the benefit of public health and economic growth.
Through partnerships with the U.S.
Department of Energy (US DOE); University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV);
the National Energy Management Institute (NEMI); University of Illinois at
Chicago (UIC); The Building Diagnostics Research Institute (BDRI); the
International Training Institute (ITI); the Sheet Metal Workers’
International Association (SMWIA); and the Sheet Metal and Air
Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) – NCEMBT is able to
fund research and projects, and benefit from experience each partner
brings.
